AIDS Treatment - Available to All

HIV/AIDS is one of the biggest challenges facing the developing world today. The disease is literally wiping out an entire generation in many developing countries across Africa and Asia. The drugs exist to treat those with the infection and help them to live far longer and also to earn a living and care for their families. According to ActionAid, only 1.6 million people are receiving the necessary antiretroviral drugs out of the total 6.5 million who urgently need them. This is despite the steady rise in availability in the past two years. It is not fair that access to these drugs is limited to those who can afford them.
I am giving my support to the various campaigns putting pressure on the government and the international community to ensure the availability of these drugs is extended to all those in need by 2010.
