Barrow Road Closure - Quorn
UPDATE - Dec 04
Following consultation the road was closed to through traffic. From talking to people views are still a little mixed, but generally things have settled and most people seem to think it works.
I have received representations from both supporters and opponents of the closure of this road.
The final decisions will be taken by Leicestershire County Council as highways authority but I will press local councillors to ensure that Quorn residents views are listened to. The Parish Council have been involved in trying to find a suitable compromise.
As a Quorn resident myself, I have no strong personal opinions either way. I did use Barrow Road to get home on a regular basis, but I have not been inconvenienced by the change.
I understand a full consultation is underway with all concerned and the Parish Council will act on its findings. I would urge those with strong views on both sides to listen carefully to the balance of argument. Many who have contacted me are also unsure and can see both sides of the argument. Therefore, the final decision will be difficult and the new Parish Councillors will have to listen very carefully and find a suitable solution - even if it unpopular with a vocal minority on either side.
I would urge those most vocal in the campaigns to reflect the views of the majority who see both sides of the argument, but on balance take a view one way or the other.
