I was elected the first Labour and Co-operative MP for the Loughborough constituency for 18 years, on the 1st May 1997.
On June 7th 2001 I was re-elected with an increased majority of 6,378.
On May 5th 2005 I was re-elected again with a majority of 1996 after the Lib Dems increased their vote.

I think it is important to 'know the person' to understand where I come from on certain issues and to understand that in fact most MPs are just ordinary people doing an extraordinary job. I hope these pages help!
