Exciting Bid for New Community Facilities

I have given my full backing to the Hastings Community Association (HCA) bid to help secure a new majority community building on the Windmill Road development.

The HCA submitted the bid to the Big Lottery (Community Buildings) Fund in May with the aim of creating a multi-purpose community centre, bringing particularly benefit to people living in the eastern side of Loughborough. The bid by the HCA has been made in conjunction with a number of other bodies including the Prince’s Trust, Focus Consultancy and Charnwood Borough Council.

Amongst the facilities that the new community centre would provide is a multi use hall, a modern information technology suite, exhibition space, café, offices and storage space.

This is a hugely important initiative and would offer great opportunities for local people to come together. Whether it’s about improving people’s health, improving qualifications and vocational achievement or by providing physical and educational activities, these are all brilliant initiatives that would make a real difference to the lives of people in Loughborough and I do hope the bid is successful!

In addition Secretary of HCA Bob Bailey explained that he hoped that the new centre would be able in time to provide a base for a credit union to exist, and also hoped to provide space for voluntary and community groups to meet.
