County Council Elderly Persons Homes

This concerns the plans by the Conservative controlled Leics County Council to sell of half its Elderly Care homes - leaving only one in each District. In Charnwood this means Shelthorpe House in Loughborough and Hadrian House in Thurmaston.

In practice I believe this will severely limit the County Council's ability to offer good geographical access (because Districts are not similar in size) and specialisms in care that a wider network could provide.

Labour County Councillors opposed this vigourously.
