The Human Rights Situation in...
Burma
The human rights situation in Burma is indeed of great concern to myself and many other parliamentarians. I want to thank those who are taking an interest in the plight of the Burmese people for continuing to show their support.
I have written to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office on your behalf asking again what is being done specifically by Britain to help bring about change in Burma.

Guantanamo Bay
Again, this situation worries me greatly - I think it is clear that the conditions at Guantanamo Bay and the circumstances in which detainees are currently held indefinitely are unnacceptable.
I wish to work with the UK government in putting pressure on the US to change their policy with regards to Guantanamo and to shut it down. For more information on the government's position please read the folling letter from Kim Howells, minister for state.
