Loughborough Town Centre Regeneration/Development

The Wharf and Metrobrook developments

I worked on this before entering Parliament with Mike Jones, the Leader of CBC.

We have worked hard to develop plans for Loughborough Wharf, in conjunction with land owners and development teams. Local residents have been consulted as plans have progressed.

The original Inner Relief Road has been scaled down to lessen the impact on local people. The County Council is being pressed to develop the road network to the immediate east of the Town Centre (from Lemyngton Street to Aumbury Gap) and bring forward plans to remove through traffic from the town centre.

Town Centre Traffic

Baxter Gate

The 4+ acre site on Baxter Gate presently occuplied by the former hospital is available for development. I am workling with councillors to ensure that development and bus facilities takes into account local needs and the same time as producing a sound scheme. The two go hand in hand. Other plans to bring shops and businesses to the town are also in Labour's programme.
