Making Poverty History - International Development

Welcome to my pages dedicated to the work I do on international development work in Parliament.

I was Secretary of the Jubilee 2000 Parliamentary group from 1998-2000. This group then became the Debt Aid & Trade All Party Group and I am still the Secretary.

I regularly contribute to DfID Questions in the House of Commons and work closely with the organisations outlined below on issues they raise and by arranging meetings and encouraging their lobbying of government.

I have visited a number of developing countries to see how effective the programmes of DfID and these partner agencies have been.

I have worked in Ethiopia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Nigeria and Uganda for example.

Visit to Uganda with Tearfund - Janaury 2009

Andy Reed MP sees a water project in Uganda

In January 2009 I visited SW Uganda with Tearfund to see how their support for Water & Sanitation Projects was being delivered by their local church partner - the Diocese of Kigezi.

A full report will follow.
