Reed Consults Public Over Local Rail Franchise
Loughborough MP Andy Reed is calling on local residents to contact him with what improvements they would like to see in their local rail service.
The local MP is currently meeting with companies bidding for the East Midlands, West Midlands and Cross Country rail franchise bids – and wants to get the best deal possible for local people.
Reed said:
“I think it’s important that we listen to what local people want and get that across to the companies currently putting together bids to control our local rail franchise. And that is why I want people to let me know what improvements they feel need to be made.
“I regularly meet with Midland Mainline who currently hold the franchise and continue to press for improvements to local services and to Loughborough station – and I want to ensure that whoever gets the new franchise will put the needs of people using Loughborough first.
“I will meet with companies making franchise bids in the next few weeks so people should send me their views as soon as they can. We all want to see improving services locally and a rail system that works for local people.”
