Ward Closures at Loughborough Hospital
July 2006
News that the local PCT have decided to close the Bradgate Ward - despite a successful campaign to keep it open - has come as a shock to all those who were involved.
News of the closure was contained in a Press Realease put out in early July. It appears the decision has been made and no further consultation is to be held.
This is a surprising decision as the PCT had showed some sense in not closing the ward earloer in the year, after bowing to local pressure from myself and local campaigners.
I will be taking up this matter with the PCT urgently and will do what I can to make sure the best level of clinical service is maintained.
April 2006
The local PCT have proposed ward closures at the Loughborough hospital as part of their plans to cut their £2m deficit. I am urging the PCT to find non clinical ways to reduce this overspend and keep wards open for local patients. I am holding a series of meetings with the PCT management to achieve this outcome.
